“Miche, go!” Aaron yelled, simultaneously linking himself
with his allies. In an instant, Miche had three copies engaging James. In the
distance, Arie engaged Jane.
James quickly dispatched two of Miche’s copies, swiping
through them with an arm covered in magenta energy. The last copy mirrored
Miche’s own shock before she made it explode on James. After the brilliant
light from the explosion cleared, James stood, barely moved, with his energy
protecting him. Aaron could see through his arms a devilish grin; he wasn’t
sure what it would take to win this fight.
“What are you doing?!
You know what the mission is!” he shouted at her angrily. Aaron looked at him
in disbelief; how could he treat his twin sister like that?
“There’s no honor
within men like you, but I do know that she is the very image of it,” Aaron scowled
at James.
“How… Dare you?!” James eyes began to seep his magenta
energy. “Father and I have served under you for so long, waiting for our chance
to take power. And you question OUR honor? All you do is perpetuate your banal
idealism to the world, coaxing them to believe in you. You do nothing with your
power.” James ran at Aaron, his fury manifesting as visible energy.
“Aaron!” Campbell screamed. Aaron barely dodged James’
before he attack. Miche quickly summoned a copy to propel James away, but he
had managed to damage Aaron’s arm before being flung.
“You should be far more damaged than that,” James narrowed
his eyes.
“I should…” Aaron thought to himself. He noticed the same
blue flash of light as James hit him. He felt his arm and pulled it away, his
hands stained red. “I didn’t know psychic energy could do that,” he stood
resolute.
“Just wait,” James ran toward him.
“Miche, be ready,” Aaron said in her mind as James reached
him. James launched a kick at him, surrounded by his energy. Aaron pushed it
down, spinning to avoid the hit and land a telekinetically-enhanced punch to
James chest. He shook his hand from the recoil; his energy clashed with James. “Looks
like I can hurt you too!” Using enhanced speed, he rushed James, pushing him
with telekinetic force. James withstood the attack and made his own, swiping at
Aaron’s side.
“I’ve caught on,” Aaron winced. He managed to block James’
attack with his telekinesis, but still felt some pain at their energies
clashing. He could feel James’ rage increasing.
“Why aren’t you helping me?!” he yelled to Jane.
“Because you can’t
force her to become the person you are,” Aaron told James, launching him in the
air with his telekinesis. “Your wall is dropping.” With every successful attack
from Aaron, James grew more infuriated.
“How are you able to do this?” James sneered at Aaron.
“Easy,” Aaron said, appearing above him. “I’m an
opportunist.” He smiled, delivering a strong kick to James, sending him flying
toward the ground.
“And so am I,” one of Miche’s copies said, flying toward
James with a kick. At impact, the copy exploded, knocking James into Aaron, who
kicked him further toward the ground. James struggled to steady himself from
Aaron and Miche’s barrage. As Miche sent one more copy at him, he turned and
stabbed it in the chest with his hand. The energy propelled him toward Aaron,
who had a shocked look on his face. Just as James reached him, he used his
telekinesis to slam James to the ground. He felt Jane’s pain at seeing her
brother hurt, but knew that he had to incapacitate James before he killed him.
“Why!!!!” a surge of energy emanated from James’ body. “He
said this would be easy! That you’re broken! He said it would take nothing to
destroy you!”
“He was wrong!” Aaron hit him with an intense telekinetic
blast. As James struggled to get to his feet, Aaron kept hammering him with his
psychic powers. With each blast, he could see James’ energy grow. He used his
powers at their limit in attempting to incapacitate James. Miche took the
opportunity to send copies to James and detonate them, increasing the damage
from Aaron’s attack. Aaron could feel James slip as they maintained their
assault. He had hope the fight would conclude, until he heard Jane.
“No more!” Aaron turned to her and felt and immediate
change. She was renewed and resolved. As he looked to James, his face was full
of fear. James began to emanate an intense amount of energy, visible to
everyone on the battlefield.
“Yes!” he screamed as he was enveloped in his energy. As it
collected, the energy formed a giant.
“Power!” his voice was mixed with exhilaration and malice.
He sent a blast to Arie, Miche, and Campbell, immediately knocking them
unconscious.
Aaron was speechless watching his friends and his boyfriend
fall to the ground. He turned to James with rage in his eyes. His body and eyes
began to glow a violent blue.
