“I wonder if these skinny jeans are going to mess up my fighting…” Aaron spoke into the phone.
“Since when do you fight?” his boyfriend, Campbell asked.
“You saw me fight the day we met… I fought someone yesterday! You were there!” Aaron raised his voice into the phone.
“Ow… Aren’t you in public?” Campbell replied. Aaron looked around and noticed a couple of staring faces.
“Yes. Yes I am…” he quickly ducked down an aisle in the grocery store. He had just left class and had decided to go to the grocery store for a few quick items. “Anyway, yes I do fight. You know this.”
“Yeah, I remember now. You could use some work,” Campbell laughed into the phone.
“Ha. Ha.” Aaron looked forward, annoyed. To the passersby, it looked like he was concentrating much too hard on which pasta sauce to buy. “I’m actually decent,” he replied, resolute.
“Right babe,” Campbell began his next sentence, but Aaron didn’t notice. He was distracted by a commotion toward the front of the store. He turned his head to the source of the noise.
“All of the cash. NOW!” He heard someone demand of a cashier.
“Looks like I’m gonna get a chance to prove you wrong. Looooove yooouuu,” Aaron said sweetly into the phone before he hung up. He pulled his scarf up over his mouth and his hood over his head before he crept to the front of the store. He caught sight of five men, taking cash from registers. From under his scarf, he made a smirk, getting ready for his assault.
“Now guys,” Aaron began as he walked over. “This really is no way to behave.”
One gruff looking man turned to him. “And what the hell are you going to do about it?” he asked, pointing his gun at Aaron. Aaron merely smirked, but all the men could see were his eyes as they started to glow. All of their guns were lifted into the air and into the hands of some of the cashiers. Their faces were marked with awe, and a couple began to smile. One of the men held on tightly to his gun.
“Now, now. I know we all have Second Amendment rights, but you’re not playing very nice today,” Aaron’s eyes glowed again and the man’s eyes rolled back into his head and he dropped to the ground. Before he completely collapsed, Aaron took his gun and deposited it into the hands of a customer. Aaron barely had time to move out of the way as the gruff man began to run toward him.
“Really? I could hear your thoughts!” he said, side-stepping the man, grabbing him and throwing him against the wall. The man lumped at the floor, knocked out. Two of his compatriots looked on, scared (Aaron knew they actually were). The last of them had a smug expression on his face. He looked to the two fearful men.
“So… Are you gonna try to attack me or am I just gonna do this the easy way?” He said, prompting the two men to look back and forth between each other. Aaron merely laughed. They ran toward him, yelling, apparently gaining some resolve. Aaron knocked and punched one in the stomach, causing the man to double over. He sped behind the other, kicking him in the back and sending him soaring.
The men were persistent. They rose to their feet, despite their injuries, and renewed their assault. Aaron read their minds while simultaneously blocking their punches.
“Come on! You see how tiny I am. You should be a challenge!” Aaron taunted them. They kept trying to attack, but to no avail. Aaron took a quick step back, backflipped, and pushed the men back with his telekinesis. After recovering, they ran toward him again.
“Whatever, guys.” He raised his hand to them and they both collapsed in the middle of their run. Aaron looked to the last robber. “So, same for you?”
“No,” he replied, raising his hands toward Aaron. Aaron flew back into a rack.
“Well, shit,” he said, rising to his feet. “So you’re a telekinetic, too? Wait, why didn’t you stop me from taking those guns?” He asked, firing telekinetic force at his opponent.
“Well, I don’t need them. And yes, I am a telekinetic,” the man responded with another push. “Though you’re a little different than me.”
“Yeah. I’m cute. See the new jeans?”
“That’s not what I meant.” The man narrowed his eyes.
“Whatever! I know you were thinking it,” Aaron winked. “Anyway, I can channel psychic energy to enhance my strength, speed, and…” he hopped behind the man. “Enable flight. Though… That was more like leaping a tall villain in a single bound.” He pushed his hands toward the man’s back, sending him flying. He responded with a groan, firing a telekinetic bolt at Aaron. They shot at each other back and forth, invisible pushes knocking down products and pushing over shelves and racks.
“Sorry!” Aaron waved to the cashiers who looked at him as though he had more important things to worry about. His opponent took the opportunity to send him flying into a wall.
“Low blow!” Aaron called out, pushing his fist toward the man’s groin, eliciting a long, high pitched moan, and a feeble attempt to stay balanced. “I can fight dirty, too,” Aaron responded with a smile. He watched as the man attempted to raise one of his arms to attack, but Aaron knocked him out with a psychic wave.
“Too easy, guys,” he said, looking around at the bodies on the floor. He turned to face his crowd, still standing in awe. A woman stepped toward him.
“Thank you,” she said, taking his hand.
“Aww, well, it’s all in a day’s work! Actually… Sorry, that’s not true.” He heard a familiar ringtone come from his pocket. “Oh! That’s the boo, I will see you guys later! Aa--- Hm. Probably shouldn’t give you my name. So, I am out! PEACE!” And with that, Aaron dashed outside.
“Hey babe!” He said as he answered the phone.
“Uh, Aaron, what happened?” Campbell asked, slightly annoyed.
“I got in a fight,” Aaron replied happily.
“Um. Sure.”
“I did! Really! The skinny jeans worked. Still have excellent combat capabilities. I shall call them my Battle Jeans!”
“I bet you’re going to start calling all your jeans Battle Jeans,” Campbell chuckled, “And I want you to know how uncool that sounds.”
“I don’t care! Battle Jeans!”
“You do know that makes your initials BJ right?”
“You suck, but I still love you.”
This is the funniest, most awesome thing I've read today. I absolutely love how light-hearted and humorous it is, yet still kicks ass. Love Aaron already! Can't wait for the next one.
